Solitaire, also known as Klondike, is a classic card game that tests your strategy and logic skills. In this review, we will delve into the rules and basics of Solitaire, as well as provide some tips and tricks to help you improve your gameplay.
Rules and Basics
The objective of Solitaire is to build four stacks of cards, one for each suit, in ascending order from ace to king. The game is played with a single deck of 52 cards. When the game begins, you are presented with 28 cards arranged into seven columns. The first column contains one card, the second contains two cards, and so on. The top card in each column is face up, while the rest are face down.
At the upper-right corner of the table, you will find four Home stacks. These are the piles where you need to place the cards in order to win the game.
How to Play
To start building a Home stack, you must place an ace on it. If you do not have any aces available, you will need to move cards between columns until you uncover one.
When moving cards between columns, there are some rules to follow. The columns must be built in descending order from king to ace. For example, you can place a 10 on a jack, but not on a 3. Additionally, cards within the columns must alternate between red and black.
You are not limited to moving single cards; you can also move sequentially organized runs of cards between columns. To do this, simply click on the deepest card in the run and drag them all to another column.
If you run out of moves, you can draw more cards by clicking on the deck in the upper-left corner. If the deck runs out, you can reshuffle it by clicking on its outline on the table.
To move a card to a Home stack, you can either drag it or double-click on it.
Scoring
Under the Standard scoring system, you will receive five points for moving a card from the deck to a column, and 10 points for each card added to a Home stack.
If a game takes longer than 30 seconds to finish, you will also receive bonus points based on the time it takes. The bonus formula is as follows: 700,000 divided by the total game time in seconds. This means that the highest possible Standard score is 24,113!
To change the scoring system, simply click on the settings button.
